Reseña del editor Hydrothermal processes on Earth have played an important role in the evolution of our planet. These processes link the lithosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere in continuously evolving dynamic systems. Terrestrial hydrothermal processes have been active since water condensed to form the hydrosphere, most probably from about 4.4 Ga. The circulation of hot aqueous solution (hydrothermal systems) at, and below, the Earth’s surface is ultimately driven by magmatic heat. This book presents an in-depth review of hydrothermal proceses and systems that form beneath the oceans and in intracontinental rifts, continental margins and magmatic arcs. The interaction of hydrothermal fluids with rockwalls, the hydrophere and the biophere, together with changes in their composition through time and space, contribute to the formation of a wide range of mineral deposit types and associated wallrock alteration. On Earth, sites of hydrothermal activity support varied ecosystems based on a range of chemotrophic microorganisms both at surface and in the subsurface. This book also provides an overview of hydrothermal systems associated with meteorite impacts and explores the possibility that hydrothermal processes operate on other terrestrial planets, such as Mars, or satellites of the outer planets such as Titan and Europa. Possible analogues of extraterrestrial putative hydrothermal processes pose the intriguing question of whether primitive life, as we know it, may exist or existed in these planetary bodies.Audience: This volume will be of interest to scientists and researchers in geosciences and life sciences departments, as well as to professionals and scientists involved in mining and mineral exploration. Hydrothermal Systems / SpringerLink ~ Hydrothermal systems can also be considered in terms of the geotectonic settings in which they occur, and these are discussed in Part II of this volume. The various types of hydrothermal processes, their action on the surrounding lithologies, and their products in terms of mineral deposits are addressed in Part III.

Hydrothermal System - an overview / ScienceDirect Topics ~ An understanding of hydrothermal systems (e.g., Lowell, 1991) can yield important information on how groundwater–surface-water interactions influence emergent biological patterns on regional spatial scales (Pringle et al., 1993). Convective hydrothermal systems require a heat source and a groundwater circulation system.

Hydrothermal and Supercritical Water Processes, Volume 5 ~ Hydrothermal and Supercritical Water Processes presents an overview on the properties and applications of water at elevated temperatures and pressures. It combines fundamentals with production process aspects. Water is an extraordinary substance. At elevated temperatures (and pressures) its properties change dramatically due to the modifications of the molecular structure of bulk water that .

Mineral deposit - Hydrothermal solution / Britannica ~ Mineral deposit - Mineral deposit - Hydrothermal solution: Hydrothermal mineral deposits are those in which hot water serves as a concentrating, transporting, and depositing agent. They are the most numerous of all classes of deposit. Hydrothermal deposits are never formed from pure water, because pure water is a poor solvent of most ore minerals.

Hydrothermal Ore Minerals: Composition, Distribution and ~ hydrothermal solutions), or mineral ore formation processes are researched near and on the daylight surface (Giggenbach et al., 1990). The authors of this paper showed that processes of mineral ore formation evolved in the interior of modern hydrothermal-magmatic systems of an island arc during transition from progressive to

Hydrothermal mineral deposit / geology / Britannica ~ Hydrothermal mineral deposit, any concentration of metallic minerals formed by the precipitation of solids from hot mineral-laden water (hydrothermal solution). The solutions are thought to arise in most cases from the action of deeply circulating water heated by magma. Other sources of heating
